how did that happen: For eight minutes it looked as if Indiana might run out of Cole Center in the first half of Thursday night. Wisconsin seemed visibly frustrated at times trying to defend it and by 5:55 pm, Indiana had advanced 56-50. Hoosiers found little resistance in both drives or in reaching the edge, resulting in 44 points in the evening paint. After 7-0 from Wisconsin, giving Badgers the lead at 57-56, Rob Phinisee answered with a left-winger triple pointer to give IU a 59-57 pad with 1:27 to play. Wisconsin answered with a pair of free throws from D’Mitrik Trice to tie it at 59 before Jerome Hunter responded with a dip to return IU to 61-59 with 37.8 seconds to play. Trice answered with a powerful shot into the lane, giving IU an opportunity to claim the final possession. Jackson-Davis got a good look at Edge and couldn’t finish the game, sending the game into overtime.

Overtime started with a 3-pointer by Leal, Wisconsin answered with a Brad Davison 3-pointer. Neither team would score again until the Hunter was inundated with 1:50 to play. Wisconsin delivered it after the takeover, but Hunter took a questionable triple-pointer from the deadline. Tres replied with a 3-pointer with only 1:02 to play to give Wisconsin a 67-66 pad. Indiana’s inability to finish the game in regulation and overtime proved costly. Tyler Wahl hit a pair of 3-pointers to give Wisconsin a 77-70 lead, putting the game out of reach.

Outstanding performanceJackson-Davis was superb in 49 minutes, ending the match with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Lille also played a separate match with nine points in 35 minutes.
