Arthur Smith strikes a deal to become the new head coach of the Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to an agreement with Arthur Smith to be the team’s new technical manager, it was announced Friday.

Smith has served as attacking coordinator for the Tennessee Titans for the past two seasons.

Smith, 38, replaces Dan Quinn, who was fired by the Falcons with General Manager Thomas Dimitrov on October 11 after a 0-5 start. Raheem Morris took over as interim coach and led the Falcons to their only victories of the 2020 season on their way to an overall record 4–12.

The Titans ranked fourth in the league for scoring during the regular season, with an average of 30.7 points per game under Smith. Tennessee finished the regular season with an average of 396.4 gross yards per game, which is good for third place in the NFL. The Titans’ accelerating attack recorded 168.1 yards per game, second only to the Baltimore Ravens attack (191.9 yards).
