Arthur Smith strikes a deal to become the new head coach of the Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to an agreement with Arthur Smith to be the team’s new technical manager, it was announced Friday.

Smith has served as attacking coordinator for the Tennessee Titans for the past two seasons.

Smith, 38, replaces Dan Quinn, who was fired by the Falcons with General Manager Thomas Dimitrov on October 11 after a 0-5 start. Raheem Morris took over as interim coach and led the Falcons to their only victories of the 2020 season on their way to an overall record 4–12.

Tennessee finished the regular season with an average of 396.4 gross yards per game, which is good for third place in the NFL. Titans Receiver AJ Brown He finished with 1075 yards, and mate Cory Davis He finished the season at 16 yards from the 1,000-yard plateau.

Smith also interviewed Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, New York Jets, and Philadelphia Eagles. Jaguar Urban Mayer hired a new coach for it on Thursday.

Sources have told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that bears passing coordinator Dave Ragon is the favorite to join Smith as their attack coordinator in Atlanta.

The Falcons conducted a remote interview with Smith on Monday before transporting him to Atlanta for a second interview on Wednesday. The team also interviewed Kansas City attack coordinator Eric Binemi, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense coordinator Todd Bowles, San Francisco 49ers defense coordinator Robert Saleh, Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady, and Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
